Like lots of people, starlet Dianne Scott spent most of her life believing that pit bulls were dangerous, thanks to incorrect and overblown media representation. So when, in 2012, her spouse suggested that they adopt a pit bull mix from a shelter, she had her doubts.
” My gut reaction was, don’t we want to get a safe dog?” the starlet remembers.
In spite of her doubt, the duo chose to take a chance on a year-old white pit bull mix called Hurley, and prior to Scott knew it, she ‘d fallen for the puppy.
Affectionate and silly, Hurley changed her “perspective that pit bulls are bad,” she states, so much so that she and her husband brought another pitbull into their home a year later on. Wednesday, an 8-week-old runt of a litter, had a beautiful black coat and a playful, caring demeanor that matched Hurley’s character perfectly.
The canines bonded so well that Scott began an Instagram page, A Tale of 2 Pitties, to document their friendship and entertaining shenanigans. “The two of them were my whole world,” she says, adding that she has “no clue how I lived my life before I started rescuing them.”
As Scott and her partner recognized their cherished puppy’s time on Earth was coming to an end, they worried about what to do with Wednesday, who ‘d only ever understood life with another dog. A good friend stumbled throughout a picture of an 8-month-old white pitbull rescue, and the pet dog, Pugsley, “tumbled” into their lives not long after.
Immediately, the grieving Wednesday required to her brand-new buddy. “I hadn’t seen her smile or have any sort of delight since Hurley died,” Scott recalled. The pets are polar revers personality-wise– Wednesday is like “a little old lady” with a sassy attitude while Pugsley is “this goofball of a geek” who loves cuddling and barking at strangers in equal measure, per their mother– they ended up being instant finest buddies.
The pets’ “fantastic relationship,” states Scott, is due in part to how much convenience Pugsley gave his sibling– and the whole household– after Hurley’s death. “Pugsley was indicated to be here,” Scott explains. “He walked into our home that very first day and I seem like he currently knew that was his objective.”
Pugsley has also brought lots of humor into the household. In addition to his sibling, the now-6-year-old pitbull routinely appears on Scott’s Instagram and TikTok, gamely dressing up in clothing and even starring in an amusing “Neighborhood Watch” series where he and Scott reveal their irritation at pedestrians outside the window. It’s the videos of the dogs together, whether they’re running around a lawn or snuggling close in bed, that are the real crowd-pleasers.
” The two of them are simply exceptionally various,” states Scott, “and I do not think they might live without each other.”
Today, A Tale of 2 Pitties has 107K Instagram followers, all of whom clearly can’t resist the sweetness of Wednesday and Pugsley’s tight-knit bond. Through her platform, Scott wants to send out the message that all rescue animals are worthy of a possibility, specifically pit bulls.
” Pit bulls still have this dreadful, bad credibility of being these harmful pet dogs, and Wednesday and Pugsley have really assisted me in my mission of revealing the world that is just not true,” she discusses.
And maybe soon, Scott and her spouse will have even more puppies to assist in sharing that message. “I’m never going to stop adopting,” she states. “” Each pet dog will be a different experience and will change me in a different method and lead me someplace new.”
